Aid for Puerto Rico that stands on strong legs

Kelley Humbert and Laura Mainardi Villarino are members of the Penn Neurology Class of 2018 and are from Puerto Rico. Hurricane Maria in September impacted their family and friends, as it did for everyone on the island. As shock transitioned to awareness of the scale of the devastation, Kelly and Laura looked for a way to help.

The result was the Century for Puerto Rico. On October 28th, Kelley and Laura embarked on a 100 kilometer bicycle race stretching from the Philadelphia Museum of Art to Valley Forge National Park. They were joined by colleagues and friends for the ride, and raised over $25,000 to support the efforts of the Puerto Rico Real-Time Recovery Fund.

There is a long road ahead, but Kelley and Laura have helped Puerto Rico travel a bit farther down the path.
